For decades, the hidden skeleton of interior fit-out has been built from the same handful of materials: plywood, OSB, and gypsum board. They are familiar, but each carries a quiet liability — flammability, moisture weakness, or formaldehyde off-gassing. Crystal Board is our answer to that compromise: a low-density fiber cement board that keeps the workability of wood while leaving its weaknesses behind.
What Is Crystal Board?
Crystal Board is an inorganic flat panel made from siliceous and calcareous materials, reinforced with plant and mineral fibers, bound by our proprietary lightweight crystal slurry, then formed, pressed, and cured under high-pressure steam (autoclaving). The result is a dense, dimensionally stable panel that is non-combustible, moisture-proof, and completely free of wood and formaldehyde.
Our flagship density is just 0.85 g/cm³ — roughly 30–40% lighter than the industry-average fiber cement board — while still spanning the full density spectrum from 0.65 to 1.75 g/cm³ for specialized uses. Lighter, yet every bit as strong.
Performance & Key Characteristics
Behind the simplicity of a flat board is a carefully engineered performance profile:
- Ultra-light, high-strength: at 0.85 g/cm³ a 6 mm sheet weighs about 18 kg and can be carried by one person; flexural strength ≥10 MPa.
- A1 non-combustible: 1000°C without burning, melting, or dripping; smoke toxicity rated AQ1 (safe). CE certified.
- Moisture & mold resistant: water absorption below 0.2%; survives 30-day immersion without mold or delamination. Inorganic body gives mold nothing to feed on.
- Strong fixings: screw-holding force ≥1200 N — a single screw holds 15–20 kg.
- Impact resistant: impact resistance ≥1.8 kJ/m².
- Low thermal conductivity: 0.12 W/(m·K) — over 6× better than cement mortar, aiding insulation.
- Zero formaldehyde: ENF-grade (not detected); TVOC ≤0.06 mg/m³; French A+ rated.

Core Advantages
1. Lightweight, yet uncompromised
The 0.85 g/cm³ flagship cuts transport weight, lowers structural load, and reduces on-site handling fatigue — without sacrificing flexural or screw-holding strength. Lower weight also means fewer breakages and a smaller carbon footprint per square meter shipped.
2. Fire-safe by nature, not by additive
Wood-based boards can only be "pushed" to B1 with fire-retardant chemicals that wash out in humidity and still emit toxic smoke when burning. Crystal Board is inherently A1 — no coatings, no additives, no compromise.
3. Built for wet zones
Where plywood swells and gypsum crumbles, Crystal Board stays dimensionally stable. Basements, bathrooms, balconies, and coastal or tropical sites are exactly where it earns its keep.
4. Faster, cleaner installation
The surface is flat and ready for finish — no putty, no sanding. A 6 mm sheet can even be cut with a utility knife and bent on site, collapsing a two-step "wood substrate + gypsum skim" process into one.
5. One board, many uses
Ceilings, partitions, curtain boxes, duct cladding, prefab modules, healthcare cleanrooms — a single base board covers them all, simplifying procurement and inventory.
Application Scenarios
| Application | Why Crystal Board |
|---|---|
| Drywall & partition systems | A1 fire, 12 mm panel achieves ~50 dB sound insulation with light-steel framing |
| Ceilings / suspended systems | 30% lighter load, no sagging, A1 rated for public buildings |
| Wet areas (bathroom dry zone, balcony, basement) | 0.2% water absorption, mold-proof, dimensionally stable |
| Curtain boxes (humid / coastal regions) | Wood-like workability, far superior moisture & fire resistance |
| HVAC duct cladding | Lightweight fire wrap, single-person install, no added load |
| Prefab & modular construction | Dry, fast install; A1 + moisture-proof; ideal MiC substrate |
| Healthcare cleanrooms | Zero formaldehyde, optional antibacterial finish |
"Crystal Board is what we reach for when a project needs wood's convenience but cannot accept wood's risks. It is the quiet workhorse behind safer, healthier interiors." — Zhongjing Product Engineering
The Bottom Line
Crystal Board does not ask you to trade one problem for another. It is lighter than wood, safer than plywood, drier than gypsum, and cleaner than all of them. For architects, contractors, and distributors specifying the next generation of interior substrate, it is the rare material that improves performance and simplifies the build.
